FORECAST AUSTRALIA

The world's best global models, drawn over Australia at the resolution they were actually computed at.

ECMWF HRES 0.1°
Live ECMWF HRES at 0.1° to fifteen days, AIFS beside it, the Met Office Global at 10 km to seven days — and the global wave model behind them, in metres of sea.

Why this site exists

Native resolution, not a crop

Every model here is global and every raster is rendered at full model width, so Australia is sampled at the 0.1 degrees HRES actually computed — the same 420 grid columns the model has across the continent — rather than being upscaled from somebody's regional cut-out.

Absolute colour scales

Every ramp is pinned to real values — 0 °C is always the same colour, a 100 km/h gust always announces itself — so a loop shows the weather changing, never the palette re-fitting itself. And every pixel can be read back: hover anywhere for the number.

Four models, one instrument

Flip HRES against AIFS against the Met Office at the same valid instant and any difference on screen is a real disagreement between the models. Same colours, same framing, same probe — pointed at four forecasts.

Part of a network

Forecast Australia is the Australian member of a family of model sites: Forecast Euro reads ECMWF, Forecast Britain reads the Met Office suite, Forecast Canada reads the MSC suite, and weather.city covers places rather than models.
